Every kid who ever loved a fight had a pair of these hanging somewhere. Off a nail. Off a bedpost. Off a doorknob in a room that smelled like sweat and ambition. Mine hung on hope more than anything else.
I painted them against a deep saturated green. The color of a basement wall, a gym floor, a gutted rec center where nobody was watching and you trained anyway. The leather is creased, scuffed, worn soft at the knuckle. Used, not decorative. A brand-new glove tells you nothing. A beat-up one tells you the whole story.
This is No. 001 of The Affordable 100, and it felt like the only honest place to start.
